Journey Tracker is a browser extension for visualizing and tracking browsing sessions. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This extension prioritizes privacy through local-only data storage—your data never leaves your device.

Data Collection

The extension collects the following information to provide its functionality:

• Visited website URLs and page titles during tracking sessions
• Tab relationships (which pages opened other pages)
• Visit timestamps
• User-added annotations (notes and color tags)
• Extracted content from sites where you've configured extraction rules

Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. Your journey data remains entirely on your device—it is never sent to external servers, shared with third parties, or used for advertising or analytics purposes.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transmit your data. The extension operates completely offline with no external servers or cloud synchronization. Your browsing data stays on your machine.

Data Retention and Deletion

Since all data is stored locally, you have complete control:

• Clear your journey anytime using the "Clear" button in the extension
• Remove individual steps from your journey
• Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data

Exported Data

The "Export" feature generates an HTML file that is saved locally to your device. This exported file remains under your complete control—the extension does not upload or transmit exported files.

Permissions

The extension requests the following permissions, all used solely for stated functionality:

• Storage: Save journey data locally
• Tabs: Access tab URLs and titles for tracking
• WebNavigation: Detect page navigations and tab relationships
• SidePanel: Display the journey tree in Chrome's side panel
• Scripting: Extract page content based on your configured rules
• Host permissions: Required for content extraction to work on any site

Children's Privacy

Journey Tracker does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since all data remains local to your device, the extension is safe for users of all ages.
